Deeply emotional and powerful, whilst still managing to be fun and utterly adorable at times, The Lebsiana's Guide to Catholic School is a coming-of-age story about bravery, loyalty, first love, mental health, self discovery, the love between siblings, the complexities of parent/child relationships and everything that comes with being a teen. This is a book that tackles topics such as homophobia, religion, LGBTQIA+ rights, cultural attitudes and immigration with nuance, respect and a true sense of caring. I loved every moment of this beautiful debut and can't wait to read more from Reyes asap.
