Will Trent is a remarkably compelling character. This book was a little more challenging to read upfront for me, because I spent some time trying to piece through what I didn't already know about the setting and its characters, since I haven't read Slaughter's Grant County series. But since the people have changed so much since (and as a direct result of) the events of the final Grant County book, Slaughter did a good job describing it to her readers. The mystery in this one was captivating and the character development was great. It was particularly cool to see Will in the unfamiliar territory of Grant County and to see how it all affected Sara. Just a great book. I tend to break up books in the same series so that my brain has a better chance at keeping the entries separate from each other, but now I just want to binge read through the rest of the existing Will Trent books.
