House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland

5.0

House of Hollow is a dark and twisted fable of three sisters that is Grey, the eldest, Vivi, the middle kid who playfully often calls herself prodigal and Iris, the sweetest and the youngest. Everyone knows the Hollow family for being strange, weird things keep happening to them. On one strange day, these kids disappeared for one whole month and returned with memory loss. No one remembered anything that happened to them, Neither Iris who was 7 by then nor Grey who was 11. They had no memories of who they were, where they went, they came back home with identical half-moon scars on their throat.

The story continues after 10 years when Grey is 21, is a supermodel and star, featuring on covers like Vogue, Vivi, in a band and Iris, completing her school. Iris find it hard to cope up with the loneliness, as no one in school wants to be her friend because of the weird incidence that kept happening in her family while Grey and Vivi travelling the world and living their life.

One day Grey went missing, Vivi and Iris went on to find their lost sister, They encounter strange things like a man with the face of a bull, dead corpse etc, upon the closure, Iris learned that she is not what she thought and how different the world seems after learning the truth.

My review

Reading this book at 2 am in the morning surely left chills and felt creepy but overall. this book keeps you hooked till the first sentence and could be read in one sitting. When Iris, Grey and Vivi went missing, their parents, Cate and Gabe tried everything to find them. Media and News channels made a lot of several attempts to infamous them for kidnapping their own kids, which was not even true but after one month when they returned it was like they were born on that day, they remember nothing of the past, their hair slowly started turning white and eye colour to black from blue. Throughout the story we learn something new about the great hollow sisters and the ending, I also loved Tylor, Grey's boyfriend, how selfless and kind was he. Reading this was all worth it. You have to keep up with all the pieces that this book throws at you from time to time because all the mysteries would be answered later.

This book definitely lives in my head for free! Recommended to anyone who wants to read something spooky.
