Beastie Boys Book by Adam Horovitz, Michael Diamond

5.0

This will probably go down as my favorite autobiographical work of all time, for many reasons. It's heady, hilarious, and truly all-over-the-place, which is also consequently how you'd describe Beastie Boys as musicians and creative people. The diverse and perplexing choices for the readings in the audiobook also enhance this vibe and although it's occasionally disorienting, it's truly unforgettable. The pace at which I listened to the book allowed me to revisit the albums in full as they were talking about them, which is something I highly recommend. As a grown up punk myself, I identify with these dudes more now than I ever have, and I'm so happy I found this book.
