What a lovely story!
After losing a job at a department store she's worked at for years due to it closing, Carmen ends up moving in with her sister in Edinburgh and getting a seasonal job at a small bookshop with a quirky owner who likes to pile books more than sell them. Together they work hard to prevent the shop from closing it's doors. It must turn a profit before Christmas.
I loved everything about this book, especially how the relationship between Carmen and her older sister Sophia has changed throughout the story. The way the characters were described was so great and while at first the girls didn't get on, they ended up realising they're not that different from each other. In their little squabbles I wasn't able to take a side - both of them had valid points and the arguments happened due to different personalities rather than one of them actually being the 'bad one'.
This whole book read like a warm Christmas movie and just what I needed for these December evenings.
