When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton

4.5 stars

This book drew me in right from the beginning. It is set in Florida/Cuba in the late 1950s early 1960s. This story deals with US/Cuban politics, family, love, friendships, and loss. I really liked hearing to story and the different perspective on Fidel Castro's Comunist takeover of Cuba. It impacted a whole country of people and made them flee for asylum where others stayed and favored the new government. For those that fled, they had an internal battle, they did not want to lose their culture, values, beliefs, and their country. Do they do nothing or do they fight back? How far would you be willing to go to fight for what you felt was right?
