Mine Would Be You by K. Jamila

emotional funny inspiring slow-paced

5.0

This story involves healing from a past relationship that meant something very special to you but looking back, realizing that relationship wasn't healthy, to begin with. A slow-burn romance about painfully moving on to heal and focus on self-growth but also falling in love again in a new sense of light. The type of love that is warm, bright, and safe that feels like home.

" Being around her is like breathing in the air right before it rains. It's fresh and comforting. That's the only way I know how to describe it. "

This tackles friendships, family relationships, healthy communication, growth, and maturity in dealing with certain circumstances despite being at odds with something you can't control of. It perfectly presents the healthy stages of moving on from a past love with how the hardships were dealt with. A book filled with beautiful writing and aspirations from work, family, and friends.

Our main character Nina is a grumpy heroine but is soft-hearted to those she cares about. She is loyal, compassionate, selfless, and someone you can count on. Jackson is the love interest that is the ball of sunshine to the grumpy heroine that is Nina. He is the kindest, sweetest, and most passionate with everything he does and you can't help but admire and fall in love with his character. He brings out the best in everyone while being very supportive, caring, patient, and considerate of others. Two characters with the healthiest relationship despite the hardships that they faced.

This was truly an amazing re-read with me falling in love again with the character's wonderful personalities. A big warm hug and something I'll always reread to bring comfort and just because I love this book so damn much!
