Voyage of the Damned by Frances White
Did not finish book. Stopped at 19%.
Very childishly written in parts. Adult men acting like overemotional teenagers, while a six year old both talks and acts too old and also too young for her age depending on the moment. Six year olds can say "I" in regards to themselves, not babytalk.
The lead is insufferable. With the opening line, I thought he and I would get along, but he's honestly a pishfish. His "ex" is also the most boring romantic option. Why Ravi when there's other characters who would make more interesting narrative choices? Because Ravi is hot?? Get used to the author bringing that up constantly btw.
Another reviewer commented how anime the characters act, and that's very apt. I thought a fantasy mystery would be unique and fun (locked room Agatha Christie style, yes please!) but this failed in execution for me.
