This was very much a YA book LOL. A 17-year-old is the captain of a pirate ship on a quest. Throughout this book, you discover if she will complete the quest or die trying. This is a solid female lead character, but I felt it was missing cannon fights and the cliche plank walking.
There is one part just past the 50% mark that made my head swivel because it was thrown in there, and random SHE IS A SIREN PIRATE?! I did not know that those two things could go together
I saw that this was her debut book, so I gave her a little grace because I didn't hate it and finished it fairly quickly. If she ever did a sequel, I think it would be much better to continue building the story.
