Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

4.0

Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map, seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship. More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate, Riden. But luckily, Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve - and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.

I bought this book when it was first published - I even got the Owlcrate special edition (with merchandises which I still treasure so much to this day). However, I only managed to read it recently! I’m glad to say that it was as fun as I had expected, even though it was written a while ago.

Alosa was skillful, smart, and feisty - pretty much my kind of heroine! I was afraid the romance bit was going to overwhelm the story, given the plot where Alosa had to ‘influence’ her ship ‘mates’, but it wasn’t!

I’m kicking myself for waiting this long to read this book. I must read the sequel ASAP!
