This was the most light-hearted WW2 book I've ever read. It was really nice to read something that didn't involve some extraordinary story of survival. The title says it all: ordinary people living ordinary lives, affected by the war in small but significant ways. She learns to live with the consequences of her mistake, adjusts to a new life arranged for her, and discovers happiness in unlikely places.
