Aloha Rodeo: Three Hawaiian Cowboys, the World's Greatest Rodeo, and a Hidden History of the American West by Julian Smith, David Wolman

5.0

Wonderful! A little-known history, especially to mainlanders. Focused around Cheyenne's wild west rodeo spectacle of the early twentieth century, this book discusses the history of Hawaiian ranching and cowboy culture while also addressing the issues of annexation, sexism and racism in western culture, and the future of Hawaii both in terms of industry and climate. An easy, pleasant, and informative read.
