This book hasn’t been my favorite so far. I’ve loved the first 3. I’m not sure if it’s mid series slump, or what.
I do love all the characters including some of the new ones. Nazeera is 🙌
I realized in this book specially, I didn’t like Castle’s character arch thus far. I felt like Castle was such a strong character in the beginning. I liked him a lot. After Omega Point, he goes into shut down mode and then just snaps out of it and he’s perfectly fine (I didn’t like that). I would have understood sadness and grief, but I felt shutting down wasn’t the reaction he would have given. Then, at some point Juliette says Castle wouldn’t make a strong supreme because he was too eager to please everyone - and I disagree on both counts. Up until that point he had always been doing what’s best for his people. Then, come this book, and he seems like he is still a pseudo- leader role and knows all Juliette and Warner’s secrets…!!! Like his character arch just isn’t feeling kosher. Anyway… 😅
I felt Juliette seemed immature/ naive at times. Which, yeah ok, she is supposed to be 17/18ish, but she is leading an entire country, so I’d expect an elevated level of maturity.
Things I loved: Kenji the barber, the beach scenes, Nazeera, the ending
Final thought, team Warner and Kenji being besties.
