Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President by Candice Millard

4.0

My Ohioan self is proud to have had such an awesome man call Ohio his home! This nonfiction tale is very well told. You will most certainly walk away from reading this novel with more than a little useable information!! You know Jeopardy clues(confession that’s my lifelong goal to be on jeopardy lol) you will walk away with at least the knowledge that politics in this country have always been dirty and sly.... and I though I knew that from Hamilton. You will be whisked away back in time and follow a number of characters that play a key role in and around Garfield’s life and death. I enjoyed this book 4/5 Since it’s not one I would generally pick up shout out to @pickeringtonlibrary and their fabulous adult book club that meets the 3rd Tuesday every month. It has consistently provided me with reading material I wouldn’t normally go after but that I’ve, for the most part, enjoyed!
