The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
I have heard a lot of rave reviews for this, and I was prepared for some dark things because I had read various people's trigger warnings. That being said, it was still jarring for me to read the "hero" raping a young alien woman (or child? The hero is vague in describing her accurately because he doesn't even like her) on page early on. This alien society seems to treat women terribly, and I am having a hard time getting into this. I think I'm just not in the mood and will have to try again some other time. 

I was also put off by the constant fat phobia toward the heroine in the beginning part of the book before we've even met the alien. I like the grit that the character has, but she has to deal with so much terrible treatment from other people.
