Y'all, this book 🤯🤯 I just don't even know where to start this review. There was just so much I enjoyed about The Last Housewife.

I really enjoyed how the dual timeline was told in interview form. It allowed us to get answers to questions that came up while reading about the past, but with few actual interruptions during the storytelling. However, this did mean the past was told only from Shay's POV. So we don't get Clem and Laurel's POV of everything that happened to them. And oh the things that happened to them.

And while Shay and Laurel escaped, they didn't really. And after Shay finds out Laurel has committed suicide, from an old friend via his podcast no less, Shay finds herself back in her college town trying to find answers to learn if Laurel's death was really a suicide. The things Shay puts herself through to learn the truth - taking unknown drugs, participating in a cult, and more - kept me enthralled with this book.

And the ending - I loved it. It was so intense, with a twist I didn't necessarily see coming, that I'm still thinking about it a few days later. And I'll be honest...I was rooting Shay on in the end.

There are definitely some things to be aware of going into this book: sexual assault, suicide, a cult, torture, and honestly probably a lot more. So just be weary going in if you have triggers.
