The story begins fairly mundanely. You follow the main character Meursault through some of life's more important events, only to find him barely interested in these things. I found myself wondering if he was a mostly harmless psychopath or . . . something?
Because you are viewing events from Meursault's perspective, you have a tendency to be sympathetic to him. You know it really was the sun in his eyes that caused the problem. And yet, you also know that from the outside, he looks like a monster.
While I'm sure this book isn't for everyone, I found it interesting to read and think about the psychological aspects of the main character and society at large.
