This is the book that I've been looking for with regards to race and class in Britain. He gave both historical and global context for all the different structural things that led to individual racist and classist acts people experience in the UK, and this made me realise how racial discrimination is built into pretty much everything around us.
This book also really drilled home for me how racism has always been "scientific" racism since the start, to justify a colonialist, exploitative and state-backed capitalist economy. I found it compelling, well cited, and a cutting deconstruction of British society, government, and media. I felt like this was the book that filled me in on all the British history that we weren't taught at school!
