" There is always a way out of a situation. Might be ugly. Might leave you feeling like the earth had gone and shifted under your feet. But there is always a way around. "

This tale of The Packhorse Librarians of Kentucky was a very engaging and intriguing story. Our two main characters Alice and Margery swiftly become friends despite how different they are. We hear about the journey these librarians take in order to deliver library materials for the country folks of Kentucky.

We learn about the culture of Kentucky as well as the general laws and treatment of women during this time period. The town drunk is found dead and one of our Librarians is accessed of killing him. We get to go through the trial and it really brings to light to mistreatment of women and how men made all the decisions. Overall this was a very good read.
