I think I need to accept that short romance stories aren’t for me. All the ones I’ve read have just felt so rushed and like the characters are already in love after their first interaction. The same happens here, with it being super clear that Chase is weirdly into this woman he’s only just met. I’m not sure these characters ever had a meaningful conversation unless it was about their traumatic pasts. And let’s not even get into the plot of this book because it’s just such an odd backdrop for a romance story. I wasn’t really a fan of any of it.

For an independently published book, I have to say I was really impressed with the basics like spelling and grammar - they’re things I’ll usually overlook in these circumstances anyway (but it’s so annoying how many mainstream books by big publishers have mistakes nowadays). To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have finished it if it was a longer book, but at 107 pages I just wanted to see how it’d all play out.
