Dangerous Kiss by Jackie Collins

4.0

The infamous prose of Jackie Collins. Some may say trashy.

She has always certainly been one of my favorite guilty pleasures and in my eyes will always reign as queen of Hollywood fiction. Her books are always jam packed with drama, intrigue, romance and devastating consequences and this one is no exception.

The Lucky Santangelo series is truly Jackie's greatest masterpieces. The books follow the life of the Santangelo's, Lucky and Gino being the key characters. I truly love Lucky as a character. She is everything every female aspires to be. She's strong, confident and has balls of steel.

As with all the Lucky Santangelo novels, I loved this just the same. The only Lucky book so far I thought fell flat was Vendetta. This one was more realistic and I particularly enjoyed Bridgette's involvement in the novel. These books are easy to read and although many characters live in those pages, the story line is easy to follow. Even though this is one of many in the Lucky Santangelo dynasty, I feel like there is a family of main characters that run throughout. This is what Jackie does best, she keeps the ball rolling, each character having there own story line to intertwine at the end, in an explosive ending. I love Lucky, I think she is a brilliant character, I wish I had her attitude and fierceness. She is so well written, and so should be as she has been a part of Jackie's life as much as her own family I reckon. I don't think I personally relate to any of the characters, as you just don't know what they will do next. Sometimes the scenarios can become a little unbelievable but I think that is what makes stories so explosive.

The story is written through the eyes of a multitude of characters, each different but unique. You quickly become accustomed to their each individual life stories. Each character grows throughout the book, some grow in the wrong directions and become more evil and menacing.

You don't necessarily learn from reading Jackie Collins, other than the usual life lessons, don't do drugs or become involved in situations that you are out of your depth. It may be a bit far-fetched but that's what reading is about. To escape the every day reality in my opinion.

Overall, I absolutely love this series of book, I love Jackie Collins as an author. When you need a guilty pleasure this is one of the best series to do that. I would definitely recommend and indeed have done so. This probably isn't the best in the series, but it is still very much enjoyable.
