Monster Nation by David Wellington

Monster Nation is the sequel/prequel to Monster Island -- It's interesting if you've read MI, and it's good, but not as tight. To be fair to Mr. Wellington, the narrative structure of Monster Nation is different from Monster Island, and he remarks in the Author's Note that it was a more difficult book to write.
Now, just to voice my own pet peeve -- the book was published with a handful of spelling and grammar errors that could have been caught by a decent editor. These few, small mistakes totally distracted me, and maybe that's partly my problem and I should let it go -- the book was enjoyable otherwise.
