More than a little ridiculous, but solid smut. Novel concept for the world/alien culture. I was surprised by khui being a symbiote required to survive , as the idea of being permanently stuck on the ice planet in exchange for survival was darker than I expected. I didn't love some of the other implications of khui/the background horror of all of the women stuck in the planet who don't get doting alien boyfriends and a parasite that makes them into that, but I also feel like I can't be too picky for what this is.
This edition includes the main novella as well as a "bonus epilogue" and one short story. The epilogue was the weakest of the bunch, as it struggled to convince me that Georgiehas a capacity to learn new, non-sexual, skills.
According to the author's note at the end of the book, this edition removes details of aviolent rape at the beginning of the book. I honestly thought it was still a bit much, so I'm glad I read this edition instead of the original.
