The Night Swim by Megan Goldin

Wow! This Thriller/Suspense/Mystery packs quite a punch that makes you think about the injustices involving rape and sexual assault trials!

I’m not for books about court trials, but this is different, it’s not really a legal thriller. This is about a true-crime podcaster that is following a rape trial. She interviews many of the people involved and follows the trial, bringing it to her podcast and putting her listeners in the juror’s box. She’s well known as the last hope for people seeking justice. So when she comes to this coastal town, she is sought out by a girl who is looking for justice for her sister who was gang raped and murdered.

This is an emotional story. It touches home for many who have been sexually assaulted in their lives, but did or didn’t know that’s what it was. I will admit to being someone who didn’t know, until years later while talking with a therapist. These things are being brought to light more and more.

Goldin did a wonderful job writing this book. She makes you think, feel and empathize with what someone goes through. Some might find this triggering, I’m not sure, but I thought that the way it was written makes people open their eyes to what many have gone through. What these girls suffered was truly heartbreaking!!
