Stones of the Sky by Pablo Neruda

reflective slow-paced

4.0

Stones of the Sky is a beautiful love letter to stones, rocks, and gems, as well as the geological and cosmic processes that beget them. The poems are beautiful, lyrical, and precisely written. There was more than a hint of melancholy evident in this book; unsurprising since Neruda was dealing with terminal cancer at the time. Awe at the natural world shone through. This collection is a bilingual one with Neruda's originals sitting aside their translated counterparts, which would allow those who can read both Spanish and English to make some interesting comparisons.
