Avengers By Brian Michael Bendis, Vol. 5, by Mike Deodato, Brian Michael Bendis, Gabriele Dell'Otto, Mike Mayhew, Brandon Peterson, Terry Dodson

3.0

If I'm being honest with myself this is a 2.5 more than it is a 3, but I try not to have decimals in my scores.

This is the end of Bendis on Avengers. He wrote the main Avenger titles from 2004 - 2012 before Hickman took over for his legendary run. And I read a lot of it, a large large portion of it at least. He says 232 comics together throughout all the titles and I haven't read all 232 but it's quite the achievement.

This volume is about two things, two people. Janet Van Dyme and Wonder Man.

The main story is about going to a smaller dimension that exists within our dimension in the same space but at a microscopic level. There is also a half baked plot about Wonder Man thinking the Avengers are bad and his subsequent attack on their home which is confusing to say the least because that took place in the annuals before the last couple issues of Avengers.

The art is fine and does it's job, even being very pretty during the fight scenes. As a sort of conclusion to Bendis writing Avengers? It doesn't really feel like an end and that hurts it. But at the very least I enjoyed them going to get Janet again.

3 stars, lukewarm.
