The Selected Works of T S Spivet by Reif Larsen

2.0

I loved the first half of this book. I could empathize with the lead character's struggle to define his identity based on growing up in the west and heading east, and I enjoyed the parallel story of his grandmother and his reflections on his immediate family. But all that build up seems to go nowhere and, sadly, part III lost me. I felt like the story went astray and took a lot of literary leaps to wrap up. I really wanted to like this book and I still think it has a lot of fun elements, but I was just not sold in the end.
