Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson

funny inspiring lighthearted fast-paced

4.0

“Don’t sabotage yourself. There are plenty of other people willing to do that for free.”

I am not normally a fan of self-help books, but the audiobook appeared in my library app and I was drawn to the cover. On a whim, I borrowed it and absolutely loved it!

Furiously Happy is wildly funny while still dealing with very serious topics.  The author blends humor with mental health in a way that feels both refreshing and comforting. The author tackles her struggles with anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues head-on, but does so with an unflinching wit that makes even the darkest topics feel relatable.

Furiously Happy is a mix of absurd anecdotes, self-reflection, and moments of surprising emotional depth. Lawson’s writing style is chaotic in the best way and I loved it!  Following along with her “stream of consciousness” style of writing was so entertaining and I found myself laughing hysterically while listening on my commute.  Awesome book!
