3..25/5⭐

The book was entertaining and I liked the plot, but I had a few misgivings:

1. A little bit blasphemous- I don't care if characters are atheist, but to have a character be a preacher but secretly not believe in God is pushing the author's agenda. That could have easily been left out and it wouldn't change any of the outcomes
2. Some of the situations seemed too progressive for the 1950s-60s
3. The ending almost seemed too tidy
4. I wasn't prepared for the SA scene which added some shock value. I loved the reference to pencils throughout the book but hated why Elizabeth always had one handy.
