The Other Wind by Ursula K. Le Guin

5.0

Le Guin finishes the Earthsea series masterfully with The Other Wind, and it is a satisfying and complete resolution. It is even more impressive to have done it with so many important characters and a low word count.

All her new characters in this book, and in Tales from Earthsea, impressed me with how likeable they were. Alder the Mender was especially delightful and put me to mind of the things I like about hobbits.

It doesn't quite have the depth of Tehanu, but rather it's a return to the adventurous spirit of the first three books, tempered with a more mature sensibility.
