The Eight by Katherine Neville

2.0

This book was overwhelming, and not in the good way. There was simply too much going on, PLUS a dual timeline that did little to help the story. If they were both so critical, I think it would have been better to break them into two distinct books, rather than coming at the reader with 600 pages on intertwined...crap.

The main character seemed to be based on the author, and her infinite capableness and intelligence were taxing. She wasn't interesting, her "friends" weren't interesting, and her love interest was just plain confusing.

The only element of this book I liked was the attempt to tie the story into events in history-but even that was a bit too intense-there were too many historical people and events that were roped into this mess of a plot.

I don't recommend this book to everybody-I was really excited about it, and it was a huge disappointment.
