The worst entry in the series and sad to say, a disappointing book in general. The previous book sets up the main antagonist of the series in the background but none of that is expanded upon. Not having a formidable villain really affects the stakes of the story. The plot resolution is too abrupt. There is also a key moment in this resolution which was supposed to be incredibly emotional but I sadly felt nothing for it. Furthermore, Karthik and Surapadman not fighting a 1v1 is a literal crime.

This book being significantly longer than the rest of the series and being set with the responsibility to take the story home fails miserably in its job. Further, it has terribly affected how I feel about the series as a whole and has killed any interest I had in reading Amish’s other books.
