So, having read three volumes into this series (as that's what I could get my hands on), I can say that as an adult female, I don't find these type of stories appealing anymore.
Parts surrounding the legend and family drama are interesting as are the friends/people the protagonist meets along the way, but the overly rape-y scenes in vol. 2 involving her cousin, and the very forward rape-y scene in this volume regarding another character are just... no.
In no way is this something adult me finds acceptable. As a matter of fact, I find it infuriating. It completely sullies the rest of the story for me, which honestly, was alright. It's a lot darker than say, Fushigi Yugi, but the art style and storytelling was carrying it, for the most part.
So while I might see if I can borrow the rest of these books, I don't think I would buy them outright or keep them on my "manga I recommend to other people" shelf.
