Jake the Panty-Ripper by KanyeInterruptedMe, Kimber Lee

dark emotional tense fast-paced

4.5

I've read this book half a dozen times over the past 10 years.  I remember when this was being uploaded by chapter on Wattpad. This book, with its romance that evolves from 'I owe you' to 'therapy together', it was one of the first books I read that showed a pair of adults working through all their trauma and flaws and despite all their pain, choosing each other and being in love. I love this book and it holds up after all these years. Maya and Jake are stellar characters that are so layered and human. You get a sense on who they are in mere paragraphs. And they withstand it all - despite torture, blood, death, and pain. Not a book for everyone, it's very dark in places, but I'll reread this again in the future, absolutely.
