Illusion by Nik Knight

5.0

An angel paranormal series that must be read in order.
Illusion starts off two months after the events of Sacrifice and everyone is dealing with the aftermath of Noel's imprisonment and torture.
Right from the start it's a coaster of a emotion. All four men are fighting feelings they have for one another but things definitely progress in this book and not always in the best way. Nikole really draws on the forbidden attraction between a ward and guardian and it makes for some fairly intense scenes.
We have a lot more interaction with heaven this time round as well as other angels. There are a couple that have helped out in the previous books but this time there are archangels and time spent in heaven along with others. There are definitely a couple that are to be disliked which really adds to the drama especially when Jai, Noel, Gideon or even Riley come to each others defence. The biggest plot point, along with the relationship developments, is the decision that Riley makes that affects all of them.
I'd say that this book is more focused on relationships and individuals rather than an overall story arc for the series but what does happen really moves things along for the group as a whole and gives Riley a lot to work on and learn in the future. Riley's abilities also come to the forefront of a lot of discussion, especially with what happened toward the end of book two and the inner part of himself that he's constantly fighting against. At least until someone he cares for is in trouble, then all bets are off. We're left with an uncertain future for the foursome but a lot of possibilities have opened up. I am totally in love with this series and cannot recommend it enough!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
