The Good, the Bad, and the Furry: Life with the World's Most Melancholy Cat by Tom Cox

3.0

This book isn't so much about The Bear (the cat pictured on the cover), as it's more about cat ownership itself. Specifically, what it's like to own multiple cats in terms of the fun and follies involved, as well as the love and happiness that results from being owned by cats. Overall, the book is good in that the writer is actually quite funny, and some of the stories are entertaining because he has some cats with quirky personalities. I actually laughed out loud in some parts, but found myself skimming through some of the other stories.

My one big complaint is that I had a hard time putting 'faces to names' regarding his numerous cats. The Bear was obviously easy to picture because of his cover photo, but I would've found it helpful if there was a sort of 'intro' to each cat along with a photo at the beginning of the book. There were some later in the book, but by that time I still had no real idea who was who. This was an Advance Reading Copy, so maybe the format and/or photos were changed for the final version.

I don't think I would pay for this book, but as a freebie and/or library book, it's worth a read. I'll pass this along to fellow feline lovers :)
