I had some major problems with this book. This is the lowest rating I’ve ever rated a book, which says a lot. Firstly, I feel like the author tried too hard making “diverse” characters. I’m perfectly fine with some unique characters and representation, but the author wrote it in a way that she only made those characters for the diversity, and those characters don’t actually affect the plot much. Secondly, I feel like the pacing wasn’t great, like it was super slow at times, but was also too fast at others. Thirdly, and the main reason why I disliked this book is because
THE ENDING!! I am SO upset that Jase and Clary are literal SIBLINGS?!?? THEY LITERALLY KISSED EW EW EW THAT IS SO GROSS WHY CASSANDRA CLARE WOULD YOU DO THAT THEY WERE ACTUALLY KINDA GOOD TOGETHER!!! 🤮
a spoiler for other books even tho I didn’t read those (AND WONT)
I know that they actually aren’t siblings since I saw someone else’s review, but I also saw that they still liked eachother while they THOUGHT THEY WERE SIBLINGS WHICH AGAIN IS EXTREMELY GROSS AND WEIRD LIKE UGHH WHO LIKES TO READ ABOUT THAT!??!
Yeah let’s just say that really affected my reading experience. Buuuuuuut, I wasn’t bored with most of it, I was still somewhat hooked, which is why I didn’t rate it 2 or 1 stars.
