Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut

I'm really not sure about this book. I've read Slaughterhouse 5 and I had the same issue with that book too...I get the plot, I understand everything that happens, but I'm not sure it was all that interesting.
I found the first half to be more interesting that the second half. We explore the man who was the father of the atomic bomb and we learn about his family and the theoretical compound of ice-nine.
The parts on San Lorenzo had me skipping ahead a bit to get to the actual apocalypse, which only shows up a few chapters from the end after we've learnt the socio-political history of the Island nation.
I guess I expected more "apocalypse" in the book!
