The Wolf of Harrow Hall by Christine Pope

Fairy tales for adults!!! This is a brilliantly crafted retelling of the Beauty and the Beast legend!!!

Bettany Sendris is an orphan, living with her grandmother in a tiny hamlet. Their tithe is due to the local overlord and money had run out. She undertakes a long trek to plead in person for more time to pay. She arrives at the gothic style castle just as a once in a lifetime snow storm envelopes the area. Now a reluctant guest to an even more reluctant overlord, Bettany is stranded.

But there is ore going on than a snow storm. Why are there no women in the castle? Why does the man in charge seem reluctant to be alone with her?

This was a great read. I have to admit that I haven't read the others on this series (soon to be rectified!!!). However I felt that it didn't slow me down in immersing myself in the world. I was soon caught up in the mystery and passion of the couple. Hugely enjoyed the entire thing and I had to read it all in one go - I could not put it down!!!! Hoping there are many more to come in this series!!
