Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond

5.0

An absolute juggernaut. Pummels you with the million ways poor people are socially debilitated on a near-daily basis. Told in an excellent matter-of-fact style, with subtle insights on every page. Never didactic, everything is unbelievable but also deeply understood, and deeply human. An essential read for what should be near the top of everyone's political priorities- guaranteeing housing for every American.
