This was the cutest fall read with a perfect found family trope!
My favourite snippet from the book:
“Niceness is good manners, and stopping to give someone directions, and smiling at the overworked cashier at the supermarket. These are all good things, but they have nothing to do with what’s underneath. Niceness is all about what we do when other people are looking. Kindness, on the other hand, runs deep. Kindness is what happens when no one’s looking.”
Mika Moon, 31, a witch, raised by a revolving door of nannies and tutors whose memories were quickly erased as soon as they caught on that Mika was a witch. As an adult Mika rarely stays in one place for too long and keeps herself distanced from close relationships. Her connection to the world is through her YouTube videos where she “pretends” to be a witch.
Enter Nowhere House, 3 child witch sisters and their caretakers who are in desperate need of some help.
Ian of Nowhere House has seen Mika’s YouTube videos and can tell all is not as it seems and that there is something special about Mika. He sends her a message saying "Witch Wanted”. Mika is intrigued and arranges a meeting with Ian and the others at Nowhere House, Ken, Ian’s husband, Lucie, the housekeeper and Jamie, the swoon worthy Irish librarian who has taken on raising the 3 young witches.
The story takes off from there and it is magical of course but it’s also loving, funny, wholesome and adorable.
I totally recommend!
