This is probably one of the best queer graphic novels I’ve read in a while. As a queer guy of color, it truly warms my heart that the author emphasized the protagonist’s minority status as much as his sexuality. This book effectively portrays how, as a person of color, you face so much bigotry that it sometimes feels like you’re not as deserving of love as others. I love that this book doesn’t sugarcoat the struggles of being queer, especially in a conservative place like Texas, but it also doesn’t rely solely on the two main characters getting together as a form of trauma bonding. I wish I could experience this book for the first time all over again 🥹.
