I hated it. I hated the characters. I hated the ending. The ending felt rushed and I literally had to keep flipping back to see if I had missed a page because very important details were not clear. As a mother who just chose to delete a social account with 55,000 plus followers I had hoped to read this book with some solidarity. Instead, I found myself reliving PTSD moments of motherhood NOT related to social media at all. I powered through it because at that point I was hoping for a happy ending. Was it worth it? I don’t know. Overall, the characters were basically horrible human beings, written to be exactly that, but it was the twists at the end that literally turned my stomach and left me wondering if I would be having PTSD nightmares. On BOTM this had a trigger warning of child abuse, but I wish it had a trigger warning about how graphic the descriptions were. I would not have read it at all if I had been warned.
Graphic: Child abuse, Child death, Confinement, Self harm, Suicide, and Stalking
Minor: Infertility and Abortion
