Out of the Blue by Jason June

Did not finish book. Stopped at 13%.
The main two characters are incredibly over exaggerated in their stereotypes. It might be working toward character growth that mellows them out but the level of the exaggeration is uncomfortable. The merperson has aggressively gone on “how dare you assume my pronouns” level rants about their identity at least twice, once per chapter and at 50 pages in that’s been 2 of 3 of their POV chapters. Sex has also come up in most chapters so far at least once and on at least two occasions has been one of the characters declaring they’re horny (literally in one case) or that they’re wanting to sleep with someone. As this is the very beginning of the book and very much a young adult book this feels excessive and very uncomfortable.
