Our Little Secret by Kiersten Modglin

5.0

This is my first book by Kiersten, but it WON'T be my last!

The story is told in the POVs of Stephanie, wife of Ted, the beloved teacher in town who went missing and they have two twin boys, Michelle, the sheriff's wife and mother to Caroline, Enzo, the mayor. They live in a quant, cul-de-sac neighborhood and all have been friends for years but each of them are hiding a secret.

The story begins with an accident or so it seems. We first meet Stephanie who reports that a car went into the lake near their quant little neighborhood. But her husband has just vanished, she is working two jobs, and raising two teenage boys who seem to be rebelling. SO needless to say she is TIRED. Maybe there was no car and she was mistaken? Jude, the sheriff, and Enzo go to her home and try to talk her out of the lake being searched. They must be hiding something right? But what? I was fully invested! But then then we learn Michelle is freaking out to her sheriff husband about the lake being searched; that it cannot be searched or their secret will be found out. BOOM! WHAT??

This was a super quick read that I enjoyed. The story kept me guessing and I am still shocked about the ending. The only negative thing I can admit was Stephanie and Michelle annoyed me to no end. Michelle was so passive, especially when it came to her children and Stephanie was a rude and nosy character that I wish would go away. LOL
