Haunting with a Ghost by B. Ripley

medium-paced

3.0

This book was ok, good but not great. The story arc moves slowly and one of the crisis moments needed a bigger payoff.

The idea of the ghost trying to kill himself so he can finally get his portal to the great beyond was interesting. The relationship that developed between Landon and Ben, the 23 year old who died in 1938 and therefore had no knowledge of present day life, especially the acceptance of two men in a relationship, was an interesting situation to explore. However the issues with Landon’s job and Ben’s offer to help and the subterfuge occurring really needed to be explored more and dealt with more firmly. The crisis moment there is one every reader will see coming so it was kind of anti climactic in the way that it happens and the reaction to it from everyone involved.

There definitely needed to be a come to Jesus moment for Kevin and there was the perfect setup for it in the epilogue but no follow through. Ben’s crisis moment after he is called home is a bit confusing but the ending is sweet and certainly a unique HEA.
