I Have Something to Say: Mastering the Art of Public Speaking in an Age of Disconnection by John Bowe

informative medium-paced

4.0

I originally heard about this book through a podcast where the author was interviewed. It was interesting to hear about the story of his cousin Bill and how Bill’s involvement in Toastmasters helped him overcome a lifetime of shyness. I like how this book was structured, focusing on the author’s personal experience in Toastmasters with further context about the art of rhetoric. I think that the book would have benefited from further history on classical rhetoric and how it evolved throughout time.
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in social problems, connecting with other people or self-improvement.
