Life: Poems to Help Navigate Life's Many Twists and Turns by Donna Ashworth

The poetry in this book is a combination of “instagram poetry”and positive affirmations. I read this in half an hour as content wise it’s rather light - or initially appears to be. I found this to be somewhat accessibly thought provoking. As a poetry lover, this is something that I think is important as for decades poetry has been made inaccessible or un-appealing to the masses by ‘educated’ white male gatekeepers. I could see myself buying a used copy of this book for cheap and using it as a sort of journal, annotating the poems time and time again over years and journaling my experiences and thoughts directly onto the pages as my connection to the words change. I could also see myself coming to this book as a quick but light and somewhat uplifting read when I’m in a bit of a low or gifting this to a friend for a similar pick me up.
