悪魔とラブソング 6 by Miyoshi Tomori

Mean, manipulative Anna! Shin is too nice for his own good. I understand that both Anna and Maria blame Maria for Anna's descent into darkness and loneliness, but can that really all be placed at Maria's feet? And is what Anna told Shin about Maria's repressed memories really true? I wouldn't put it past her to lie about that, considering all the other things she's lied about. It seems like if Anna can't be happy, she doesn't want Maria to be happy either.

I'm happy that Maria is at least not letting Anna manipulate her. She insists on telling the truth and being honest. I love that she was brave enough to tell Shin in person how she really felt, and I love that she is insistent that, regardless of her feelings and his apparent lack of them, they remain friends.

Of course, Shin really does love Maria. I'm actually annoyed that he followed Anna's advice and rejected Maria, even if it truly was to protect her. How hard would it be to say, "I love you, too, but I have these concerns..."? He's obviously struggling with his feelings and in pain, so hopefully he can figure it out soon and admit his feelings to Maria.

The shining star of this volume was Yusuke. What I thought before was a lessening of his feelings for Maria was obviously not that. If anything, he clearly loves her more than ever, and because of that, is fighting to make sure she is happy, even if that means she's with Shin. I love when Yusuke confessed his live for Maria to convince her that feeling a confession you don't return isn't a bad thing, and then played it off as a lie. Maria was right when she called him a liar to the bone, but she has no clue what he's really lying about. I appreciate Yusuke standing behind Maria and supporting her, without her even having to ask, and I hope he continues to do so.

If Shin isn't careful, both Maria and I might end up switching to Team Yusuke!
