Then There Was You by Miranda Liasson

4.0

After a year away, Sara Langdon is moving back to Angel Falls. She's missed her family and friends and she wants to help care for her grandmother who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but the dissolution of her wedding after she found her fiance, Tagg, had cheated caused Sara to need some space. Now she's back and ready to work alongside her father at his medical practice. Now, the only thing she has to contend with, besides her return adding to the small-town gossip, is the person she holds responsible for the break-up of her would be marriage: Colton Walker.

Colton has changed a lot since high school when he used to antagonize Sara almost non-stop regardless that she was dating his best friend. And ever since what happened at the bachelor party, he knows that Sara wants nothing to do with him. However, these two can't seem to avoid running into each other, and after a shared kiss one night, they both begin to wonder if the very thing they've been looking for has been right in front of them the whole time.

I really love small town settings in my romances and this enemies-to-lovers story embodies all that is charming in a place where everybody knows everyone else and secrets are hard to keep.

The spark between Sara and Colton was so great, I kinda wished that Miranda Liasson had drawn out the initial animosity between the pair a little bit longer before adding in the unavoidable relationship. I loved the backstory between Colton and Sara and the history they share. The fact that hindsight is always 20/20 and sometimes we remember things differently over time. I liked that there were layers involved in Sara and Colton's interactions, like more going on behind the scenes than either one was aware at the time, and it still resonates ten years later. It goes hand-in-hand - and brings it into perspective - with the idea of Sara's grandmother, diagnosed with Alzheimer's, slowly and sadly losing her memories and not always being able to rely on whether she's speaking from the present or from the past.

The Langdon family is predominantly featured in this book and I was very excited to learn that Gabby would be featured next in her own book [b:The Way You Love Me|40143902|The Way You Love Me|Miranda Liasson|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1526674282s/40143902.jpg|62278926].

Overall, I really liked this sweet contemporary romance. I think if you're looking for something light and heartwarming, Then There Was You is perfect. I had never read anything else by Miranda Liasson, but she's now definitely on my list of authors to watch.
